Itinerary

Day 1
Welcome to Guatemala! Upon arrival at La Aurora International Airport, a private transfer will take you to the charming colonial town of Antigua. Surrounded by volcanoes and filled with colorful facades and historic ruins, it’s the perfect place to begin your journey.


Day 2
Spend the morning exploring the cobblestone streets, baroque churches, and local markets of Antigua. In the afternoon, take part in a traditional Guatemalan cooking class where you’ll prepare and enjoy classic dishes using local ingredients.
Day 3
Lace up your boots for an exhilarating hike up Pacaya, one of Guatemala’s most iconic active volcanoes. Trek through dried lava fields, catch sweeping views of the surrounding countryside, and if conditions allow, roast marshmallows over natural heat vents. To top off the adventure, you’ll savor a freshly made pizza cooked right on the volcano’s hot stones, a unique culinary experience you won’t forget!


DAY 4
After breakfast, travel to Lake Atitlán, a stunning crater lake surrounded by towering volcanoes and Maya villages. Upon arrival, visit Santa Catarina Palopó, known for its traditional blue-painted houses, and continue to San Antonio Palopó, a lakeside town famous for its ceramics and weaving traditions. In the afternoon, check in at your lakeside hotel and enjoy time at leisure.
DAY 5
Today, take a boat to San Juan La Laguna, one of the most culturally rich towns around the lake. Visit a local coffee plantation to learn how beans are grown, harvested, and roasted. Get a taste of village life and the strong sense of identity rooted in these highland communities.


DAY 6
After breakfast, depart from Lake Atitlán around 10:00 a.m. for the transfer back to Guatemala City. Upon arrival, take your domestic flight north to Flores, gateway to the ancient Maya world. Evening at leisure in Flores.
DAY 7
At 2:00 pm, travel to Yaxhá, another impressive Maya site located on the edge of a peaceful lagoon. Fewer visitors make this a serene and mystical experience. Climb temples, explore ruins, and enjoy sunset views from above the treetops.


DAY 8
Today you’ll set out for a full-day exploration of Tikal, the crown jewel of the ancient Maya world. Once a powerful political, economic, and religious center, Tikal is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most impressive archaeological parks in the Americas. The grandeur of its architecture combined with the surrounding rainforest, alive with birds and howler monkeys, makes Tikal an unforgettable experience where history and nature intertwine.
DAY 9
Take a boat ride down the Río La Pasión to reach the crystal-clear waters of Cráter Azul, a surreal natural spring surrounded by jungle. Swim, snorkel, and soak up the wild beauty. Spend the night in an eco-lodge nestled deep in nature. In the afternoon, continue your journey with a transfer to Alta Verapaz, where you’ll spend the night at Candelaria Lodge, an eco-retreat nestled deep in nature.


DAY 10
Journey south into the limestone mountains of Alta Verapaz. En route to Lanquín, explore the Cuevas de Candelaria, one of Central America’s largest cave systems, considered sacred by the Maya.
DAY 11
Today is dedicated to one of Guatemala’s most beloved natural wonder, Semuc Champey. Swim in its turquoise stepped pools, hike up to a lookout point with breathtaking panoramic views, and take time to enjoy the serene jungle setting, where crystal-clear waters and lush forest create an unforgettable experience.


DAY 12
After breakfast, begin your overland journey back to Guatemala City through the Guatemalan countryside. Take the evening to rest and reflect on the incredible diversity of landscapes and experiences you’ve encountered.
DAY 13
Transfer to the airport for your international flight. Return home with your spirit recharged by nature, your curiosity sparked by history, and your heart full from the people and places that welcomed you.
